Monitor Credit Scores to Improve your Credit Standing
It is vital to know your credit score, especially if it is good. Doing so is an assurance that you can make financial deals to your liking.
Having a good score is more than just possessing the power to get unsecured credit cards or immediate approval for low-interest loans; it is also a good way of establishing your credit worthiness and overall reputation.
If you’re blessed with a flawless credit history, good for you; but if you’re one of the people similar to the masses who needs some improvement in your credit scores, know that it all begins with monitoring. By monitoring your credit scores you can forge yourself ahead and win back the financial battle.
There are many different methods to boost your current rating. Some of these methods may take time to achieve while others require only a few weeks.
Here are the simplest steps:
Monitor credit scores and report for errors. Even the smallest errors can lower your current score. If you think an error has caused your score to go down, immediately contact your creditor (or anyone who has made the error) and file a formal dispute. If this doesn’t go well, you can go ahead and send a letter of dispute to the credit bureaus.
Pay your balances each month—if you can pay more than your required minimum monthly payment, it would look great on your credit report. If you’re having difficulty paying on a monthly basis, you can request for a bi-weekly or a bi-monthly payment scheme. Paying more than your minimum balance can keep debt at bay and it can even save you a lot of money in the future.
Limit your credit card applications. Having just two cards is a great boost to your existing numbers while having 4 or more will probably result in a lower score. DO everything in your power not to max out any of your cards; monitor credit scores regularly so you’ll know if your credit card activities created a negative impact.
Never make late payments. It can take seven long years before data on a late payment can be erased from your credit report. As much as you can, make on time payments every time because this will show your creditors you can manage your finances well.
Monitor credit scores regularly so you know how to act accordingly. Don't get caught off guard with situations such as identity theft or credit inquiry embarrassment. It’s best to always be ready and credit score monitoring is what will do it for you.
